Perfect Privacy VPN Review 2024: Summary

Perfect Privacy VPN logo

While Perfect Privacy shows promise as a leading VPN, it is let down by several significant flaws that prevent it from reaching its full potential.

Not only does it not support popular streaming services like Netflix and BBC iPlayer, but connections to servers in far-flung locations are noticeably slower.

Plus, it’s too pricey for what it provides, the quality of its Android app is low, and the quality of its Windows program is low, laggy, and complicated to use.

As an alternative solution to all of these problems, NordVPN comes highly recommended.

Here in this Perfect Privacy VPN review, we will evaluate the service based on various important criteria for paying consumers.

Some minimum requirements must be attained security, privacy, speed, efficiency, affordability, accessibility, and support.

Pros

  • Consistently no logs were kept.
  • Include a kill switch in all of its client applications.

Perfect Privacy VPN Review 2024: In-depth

Perfect Privacy VPN

About Perfect Privacy

In total, Perfect Privacy operates 55 servers in 23 different locations. Before making a purchase, you should verify if Perfect Privacy has a web server in your country.

It’s fantastic that the company’s nerve center is in Switzerland.

Why? As a notoriously apolitical country, Switzerland does not participate in worldwide monitoring alliances allowing them to send over customer data legally.

Although their constitution guarantees freedom of expression and privacy, 70% of Swiss voters supported a proposal that would have given the government broad authority to monitor citizens’ online behavior.

In contrast to this, there have been zero reports of government overreach, and utilizing a virtual private network (VPN) is not only tolerated but encouraged in Switzerland.

Apps And Devices

The vast majority of popular operating systems are compatible with Perfect Privacy. In other words:

  • Windows
  • macOS
  • Linux
  • iOS
  • Android

Unfortunately, no iOS or Linux native software is available from Perfect Privacy.

It necessitates a manual login using either the native IKEv2 or OpenVPN on iOS or Linux; OpenVPN on iOS also necessitates a third-party app. Not quite the best.

The macOS program only supports OpenVPN, but the Windows app supports OpenVPN and IKEv2.

The app’s UI is not fairly user-friendly, with all of the app’s configuration options accessible through a menu on the left.

Cascading VPN (multihop), a kill switch (named Traffic Leak Protection), and Expert Mode, designed to disclose more preferences menu but had no impact in our testing, cannot all be configured in a specific Settings page.

Encryption

Encryption transforms information into an unbreakable code so unauthorized parties cannot read it. The encryption standard, AES-256, is utilized by Perfect Privacy.

The Perfect Privacy network uses a shared, private IP address pool so that you may rejoin with the same IP address. Remember that the domain name server (DNS) is also confidential.

IPSec is often used in tandem with other secure communication protocols.

The transport mode encrypts only the data packet message, while the tunneling mode encrypts the entire packet. All the enciphering techniques have been exhausted.

Privacy And Anonymity

Both login and an email account are needed to join Perfect Privacy. Since an actual name isn’t required, hiding one’s identity is a breeze.

Payment options for Perfect Privacy include PayPal, Bitpay (for Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash), and Paymentwall (for credit cards).

Inquiring about the company’s management team was met with silence. Vectura Data management LTD is the legal name under which the company operates in Switzerland.

Perfect privacy boasts of its usage of diskless RAM servers, which are becoming increasingly widespread among VPN providers and practically necessary for privacy-conscious users.

The company claims that Perfect Privacy guarantees privacy by not recording your online behavior, including what websites you visit and when you log in and out of your account.

However, the “total load of the separate servers” is recorded.

Doing so reveals the total amount of available bandwidth for each server. It makes this VPN less safe than others.

Speed

Your virtual private network (VPN) effectiveness depends heavily on your network’s speed.

Using a VPN can significantly slow down downloads, online games, and other activities on a slow internet connection.

We check the VPN’s effect on our connection speed in every assessment.

We know Perfect Privacy isn’t designed for speed, so we only gave it 4 out of 10 in that category.

In light of this, here are the results of the speed test we ran on Perfect Privacy:

  • The disappointing pace of Perfect Privacy (even on local servers).
  • During regular use, we saw significant slowdowns in performance.
  • The outcome of the speed test Perfect Privacy VPN was a total disaster.

Interface Shortcomings

The client is complicated, non-intuitive, and not very well-structured.

When you first see it, you might think it is from the “Windows 98” period.

It is genuinely considered unfavorable to be sincere.

To begin, let’s discuss the app’s user interface. It is a strange and outdated experience. It’s not a deal killer by any means.

Additionally, something may not be a major issue for most people but may be unpleasant to some.

On Windows computers, the only drive letter that will work for the installation is C: The installation site is fixed and cannot be moved.

Torrenting

Torrenting is convenient for users, yet it may compromise their privacy.

A large network with numerous unknown devices to connect to increases the risk of being compromised.

If you do a lot of torrenting, then a VPN is something you need to consider investing in for your online safety seriously.

The issue is that Perfect Privacy permits torrenting, but only on their “premium dedicated servers” (most expensive).

It isn’t very reassuring because many alternative VPN services, such as Nord VPN, provide unlimited torrenting on all servers for the same flat rate.

Low Server Network

The company claims they have over 55 servers in 26 countries for your perfect anonymity.

That’s not a very large number, especially considering NordVPN’s many more servers (thousands).

There are a variety of ways in which a low overall number of servers might negatively affect a user’s experience.

Firstly, there is the issue of convenience: More people are trying to connect to a smaller number of servers.

As a result, available resources are split extremely thin, and performance suffers as a whole. The proximity problem is the second one.

You can expect slower speeds the more apart you are from the connected server. And if the total number of countries accessible by your VPN is a dismal 26?

The closest border could be a long way away, and you may have to travel through a few to get there.

In any case, Perfect Privacy’s already sluggish server speeds are certain to deteriorate more.

Company Information And Jurisdiction

The company claims that Perfect Privacy has been providing top-tier security options for its customers since 2008, long before any of the numerous other VPNs that have appeared in the market in recent years.

It’s headquartered in Switzerland, one of the few log-free VPNs tested.

The website states that Vectura Data management Limited Company is owned by Vectura Data management AG, a Swiss firm headquartered in Zug.

As we’ve mentioned, Switzerland is a fantastic jurisdiction from a privacy standpoint.

The Federal Data Protection Act (DPA) and the Federal Data Protection Ordinance of Switzerland ensure the confidentiality of personal information (DPO).

Clients of Perfect Privacy can feel more secure knowing this regulatory framework backs up their knowledge.

Furthermore, they state that the “Technical Implementation” division of the corporation operates out of Panama as “Web invest International SA.”

Panama is not a valued partner with any monitoring coalitions, making it a safe haven for private data.

Apps

Perfect Privacy VPN

The Perfect Privacy Windows client doesn’t take the conventional VPN program aesthetic.

There are no polished panels or beautiful high-resolution icons; instead, you’ll get a rough interface with tiny buttons and large text.

Most apps probably just have one big Connect button that automatically connects you to the closest server. Simple and quick.

There is no automatic server option, so you’ll have to specify your desired location from a long list of options by hand.

In most cases, that would be fairly easy, but Perfect Privacy always seems to find a way to complicate things.

You can’t connect with someone by simply double-clicking their country’s name or flag like you can with practically everyone else.

Instead, each place has its own Connect button; just scroll down the list to find the one you require.

Then, to connect and secure yourself, press the button labeled “Connect” on its extreme right.

It’s not impossible to use, but it’s certainly more cumbersome than it wants to be, and it begs the question: who thought this interface was a good one?

The ‘Ping Servers’ tab shows response times, but not just once. The client will continue to ping each server until you tell it to stop, which will report an average for greater precision.

Kill Switch

A VPN’s kill switch is an excellent, sometimes underappreciated security measure. Whenever the VPN connection is lost, it will cut you off from the web for whatever reason.

If your Internet connection suddenly drops, any open web pages or apps will be closed immediately.

By doing so, your online anonymity and security are protected from IP leaks. You will be reconnected to the internet once the connection has been repaired.

Unfortunately, this VPN service doesn’t support a kill switch on all servers, but it works only on a few. That makes other servers vulnerable to identity leaks.

Tor Over VPN

Always pair the Tor browser with a trusted VPN service for maximum online safety and anonymity.

A virtual private network (VPN) improves privacy and performance using the Tor browser.

However, only a select few VPNs work with the Tor browser, and Perfect Privacy is not one of them.

In tests, it failed to increase speed, and the UDP ports seemed to be unsuccessfully bolstering security.

TrackStop

The provider claims that Perfect-Privacy VPN has a great new function called TrackStop.

You can elevate your online privacy to a new level by preventing invasive advertisements and safeguarding your device against browser fingerprinting, malware, fraud, and cyberattacks.

The option to hide content that some may find offensive is another benefit.

In addition, a filter is available to prevent the reading of false information from unreliable sources.

Perfect Privacy And Netflix

Several users these days are obsessed with Netflix; therefore, we feel it’s important to call it out.

If you’re a Netflix fan, there’s good news and bad news. Complete anonymity does not limit your Netflix usage in any way.

Netflix, however, does keep a blocklist of previously banned IP addresses. Therefore, if Netflix is very necessary for you, you may be out of luck.

Only by giving it a shot will we know for sure. But if it works today, it might not tomorrow if Netflix changes its blocklist.

If you were hoping that things might improve in the future, you would be sorely disappointed. This VPN is not designed for streaming.

In summary, you should choose a VPN that is compatible with Netflix, like NordVPN, if that is your main concern.

Pricing

Perfect Privacy VPN Pricing

Here is the whole list of prices:

  • With a 24-month commitment, the monthly price drops to $8.95.
  • $9.99 each month for 12 months
  • For just one month, you can pay $12.99.

PayPal, major credit/debit cards, and even Bitcoin are accepted payment methods. And if you change your mind within the first seven days, your money will be refunded.

However, remember that this does not apply to Bitcoin transactions, as the payer’s identity cannot be determined in such a case.
