Fastest VPN Review 2024: Summary

FastestVPN Logo

FastestVPN is one of the newest VPN providers available. In 2016, the Cayman Islands-based VPN company began offering its services with a limited number of servers and basic functionality.

As of the year 2020, customers can access one of its more than 350 servers located in 31 different regions.

The business delivers intriguing tools and makes bold privacy claims but still struggles to get among the list of high-power VPNs.

Users are free to set up the software anywhere that supports OpenVPN. But what you don’t have is a streaming subscription.

Despite the wonderful 24/7 live chat assistance, it could not bypass geo-blocks on popular streaming services like Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, and others.

It is why NordVPN is an option worth considering.

If you’re eager to learn more about this software, you can either keep reading this FastestVPN review or download the app.

Pros
  • Price-Per-Lifetime Subscription Package
  • Policy Regarding Private Logging Operations
  • Perfect for international broadcasting
  • Intuitive real-time chat help
  • Unrestricted Torrenting
Cons
  • Not using the WireGuard security protocol
  • Incompatible with IPv6 connections
  • Disruptions to connections and glitches
  • Local Area Networks With Few Servers
  • Maintenance and upgrades are required for the app
  • The router setup did not operate
  • The website provides no useful information
  • To use the service in China, third-party apps are required
  • Costly monthly fee.

FastestVPN Review 2024: In-depth

Searching for a reliable VPN is important. VPNs slow down your connection since they reroute your traffic.

It is determined that FastestVPN provides what I would call a respectable download speed.

It works well enough for close-by servers; however, FastestVPN needs to maintain a constant rate even while connecting to servers further away.

You can’t call it the fastest VPN in terms of overall performance. To fix this problem, NordVPN is the number 1 solution.

Installing FastestVPN

FastestVPN has a painless setup process. The company claims FastestVPN is compatible with most modern gadgets and operating systems.

It’s also possible to set it up on Linux, while there’s currently no software for Linux users.

Here are the instructions for setting up FastestVPN (on Windows):

  • Firstly, decide on a FastestVPN subscription.
  • If you want an account, provide your email address.
  • Choose your payment option and finish placing your order.
  • A link to the download page and your account login information will be sent to you through email.
  • To get the app, follow the instructions: tap the link, then the OS-specific icon.
  • Just launch the downloaded executable file.
  • To complete the setup, just stick to the on-screen prompts.
  • To use FastestVPN, launch the program from its desktop shortcut.
  • Follow the instructions in the email to enter your credentials.
  • You can access servers in over 40 different countries with your new VPN connection.

FastesVPN Torrenting Performance

You must conceal your IP address when using a P2P network to acquire data.

Your Internet service provider easily monitors downloads; if the content you’re getting has streaming rights, you could be fined or even sued.

Safe VPN services can quickly mask your IP address, making it impossible to be tracked online. If security isn’t a concern, you’d like to prioritize quickness and reliability.

How fast is Torrent downloading using FastestVPN?

This time, the designers decided to get a 2.19 GB file. It took around a minute to gather working seeds at the start of the download, and even then, the speed never went over 500 KB/s.

It took us about 30 minutes to download the file, but after delaying a few more mins, the torrent software located additional seeds, and the speed went up to its full ability.

The company professes that the sum of our speed results is excellent. Neither is there even any swaying nor any other instability.

Features

FastestVPN

FastestVPN has a few practical and easy-to-use features, such as:

Ten Logins

Up to ten devices can be connected to the same FastestVPN account. There are enough electronic devices for two normal Americans to share this limit comfortably.

No family package is available, but more accounts can be purchased from this VPN provider.

Besides the five included devices, you may add up to 20 more that use FastestVPN with a single subscription.

Check out the pricing of this FastestVPN for details on how much it will cost you for each additional slot.

Unlimited Bandwidth

There is no data limit with this VPN service. It can be used at home or when traveling to access insecure network connections without consuming too much data.

Is there any benefit to using FastestVPN over your Wi-Fi connection?

Your ISP may be keeping tabs on what websites you’re visiting and deliberately slowing down your connection on those sites.

Using FastestVPN, your DNS (Domain Name System) will not be encrypted and hidden from your ISP.

Whatever you do online will not shield you from any slowdowns caused by throttling and will keep your connection stable.

Solid Security & Privacy

FastestVPN has publicly promised its consumers that their security and privacy will be their priority.

Most significantly, it has promised not to disclose user information to third parties. But there is no proper evidence that they are not doing it.

The company claims that FastestVPN has not received any complaints about data leakage or sharing with authorities, unlike other larger VPN services.

Users concerned about their privacy should take note of this.

Built-In NAT Firewall

The NAT firewall serves as a sort of courier for your device, determining which inbound data packets it will really use.

You’ll receive only the data packets you’ve asked for, and everything else will be ignored.

You should know that the NAT firewall is not a substitute for a full-fledged Internet security suite, although it does help boost security.

For this reason, you might consider another provider like NOrdVPn instead of FastestVPN.

DNS Leak Protection

Because of this, your ISP can monitor your every move online and access your complete browser history, IP address, geo-location, and other digital footprints.

FastestVPN has not a powerful security technology called DNS leak protection that prevents your online activities from being revealed to your ISPs.

The company claims that this feature, which is enabled by default, shields your online actions if the VPN connection drops, but it is not properly working as described.

Anti-Malware

This feature is an added safeguard against viruses and other forms of malware you may experience online.

You shouldn’t rely on the FastestVPN app as your primary security solution because it isn’t designed to do that.

WebRTC Leak Protection

Use of the FastestVPN add-on for Chrome or Firefox will prevent your browser from revealing your true IP address to any sites you visit.

According to this open-source software, you won’t need any other programs to help you share and receive multimedia files.

In addition, you may avoid IP leaks by blocking WebRTC with these add-ons.

Smart Connect Isn’t Really

In our latest FastestVPN speed test, we started with their Smart Connect feature. Most VPNs with this feature will automatically connect you to the nearest, least-busy server.

While most VPNs only connect to one location, FastestVPN has connections worldwide.

As a result, certain links are now with extremely high latency because of their great distance. However, the speeds were often satisfactory on those links, but not all time.

Kill Switch

If your VPN connection should ever fail for whatever reason, a “kill switch” will prevent your true IP address from being exposed.

It could occur in a technical failure, but it is also possible whenever servers are switched.

While the VPN client is busy connecting to a new server, the kill switch cuts off the Internet connection.

When that happens, it automatically reconnects you to the web.

For the time being, FastestVPN does not include a proper Kill Switch, which was a major criticism of our previous assessment.

Smart Tunneling

Using a VPN’s flexibility to redirect only some of your internet traffic is an excellent example of how its benefits can be put to good use.

Choose to continue data routing even after the FastestVPN app is closed.

Adblocker

In the future, annoying forms of advertising like pop-ups and sidebars will be a thing of the past.

You can get an ad-blocker for free when you sign up for FastestVPN, which is just one of many reasons to use this service for your VPN needs.

With FastestVPN’s ad blocker, you can browse the web without dealing with annoying and intrusive ads popping up.

FastestVPN’s website shows this is one of the service’s most popular features.

Because it is a server-side process, the ad blocker cannot be disabled, but turning it off is unnecessary.

One of its benefits is that FastestVPN employs it to prevent access to blacklisted websites. It is done in response to customer input and feedback.

How Fast Is Fastestvpn?

Having great hopes for the speed tests, given the name of the service, FastestVPN, it seems the service has been wrecked by its hype.

Even though they know the service’s limits (they only support OpenVPN and IKEv2, for example, while rivals also provide the faster WireGuard protocol), their customers still prefer them.

In the United Kingdom, download speeds of 220–240 Mbps were reported when using OpenVPN, whereas downloading speeds of 300–325 Mbps were achieved when switching to IKEv2.

Compare that to the 490Mbps providers such as NordVPN, which also provides OpenVPN.

And considering the maximum speed of WireGuard VPN connections is 950 Mbps, most users would find this service wanting.

If your Internet speed is less than a few hundred megabits per second, though, you may as well save your money.

It could be useful if maintaining speeds between 200 and 300 Mbps is all you need.

When connecting from the United Kingdom to Brazil, where we anticipated a significant slowdown, we still saw speeds between 230 and 250 Mbps.

Compatible Devices

FastestVPN is compatible with the most popular operating systems, including Windows OS, Mac OS X, Linux, Android devices, and iOS.

It is compatible with routers, media players like Kodi and Roku, and smart TVs like the Amazon Fire Stick, Android TV, and Apple TV. FastestVPN also offers add-ons for Chrome and Firefox browsers.

Most families don’t need more than 10 of the connections at the same time that a single subscription provides. However, many connections can be established at once.

To add a line, you must pay $6 per year for a minimum of 3 years. An increase from $25 to $31 over three years, for instance, to get support for 11 concurrent connections on a three-year plan.

Is FastestVPN Safe?

FastestVPN

In this regard, FastestVPN excels. Its headquarters are in the Cayman Islands, home to strict privacy regulations.

Because of its location, it is not subject to the tracking and intelligence-sharing agreements of the Five Eyes or the Fourteen Eyes alliances.

According to anonymity activists, using a VPN server in one of these nations puts you at risk of unwanted government monitoring by partners of the Five Eyes intelligence alliance.

The United States of America, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and Australia make up the Five Eyes.

New members of the Fourteen Eyes are the countries of Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, and Sweden.

Pricing – Is FastestVPN Affordable?

FastestVPN Pricing

No! Indeed, that is not the case! FastestVPN is one of the most expensive VPN providers.

  • Pricing starts at $10 per month.
  • You may save $90 with the yearly plan that costs only $2.49 a month.
  • The three-year plan costs just $1.11 per month (a $320 savings)
  • For 92% savings, consider the 5-year plan’s low monthly cost of $0.83.

Customer Support

FastestVPN has, in our experience, provided responsive and knowledgeable customer service.

While the staff may not be capable of answering highly technical queries, they will give you everything you require to know to make an informed decision about whether or not to subscribe.

You may reach the team via email, but there’s also a convenient live chat option on the website’s main page.

Within seconds of delivering the message, we had the responses we needed.

Review Verdict

This FastestVPN review goes beyond merely outlining the software’s features to explain its fundamental principles and walk you through the setup process.

Compared to competitors, FastestVPN’s website is confusing, its speeds are average at best, and its mobile apps are poorly designed and rarely updated.

The five-year plan’s $0.66 monthly price tag may be enticing, but it’s not nearly enough to cover expenses, much less even fund expansion or new features.

To save money, you should look at some of the finest inexpensive VPN services, such as NordVPN.
