Streamlabs Review 2024

Live streaming is one of the best ways to make some money on social media networks, especially platforms like Twitch. When you get enough viewers and followers, you can build a loyal fan base that allows you to monetize doing what you love.

The goal is to grow your live viewers, but doing so can prove a bit of a challenge if you aren’t well-versed in streaming and know how to engage with viewers as you go live. It also takes great content, personality, and trust to grow a loyal following, which takes time.

Some users are looking for ways to make this whole process of gaining viewers easier and more rapid, and there are plenty of companies out there who claim to deliver on that. One of these companies is Streamlabs.

We’ve done our research to bring you this complete Streamlabs review, more specifically their Cloudbot so that you can decide whether or not it may be something that can work for your Twitch growth. Let’s get into it.

What is it?

Streamlabs review

Streamlabs is a streaming software that you have to download in order to manage your Twitch streams. It also claims to work for streaming to YouTube and Facebook as well.

This isn’t just a streaming software, it claims to also grow your audience. Streamlabs actually doesn’t grow your following at all; it’s up to you to grow your following, but they are simply providing what seems to be an over-complicated software to help you with your streaming efforts.

When you first land on the website of Streamlabs, you’ll notice there is way too much information to be able to decode anything. It seems that the strategy of Streamlabs is to overwhelm users so that they’re forced to download and see what it is the website and software actually does.

In any case, one of the features of Streamlabs is their Cloudbot, which basically is a bot that automates your engagement. Streamlabs claims that the bot will be able to allow you to connect with viewers through tools like:

  • Loyalty stores: viewers can spend their points to redeem different sound effects, perks, or access codes.
  • Minigames: you can add different modules for your viewers to interact and engage with.
  • Chat alerts: you’ll receive different alerts related to chats
  • Media share: allows for sharing media from viewers and streamer
  • Quotes: add quotes to your chat feed
  • Giveaways: supports giveaways for your viewers

These are the principal features mentioned, and they say “and more,” but don’t give any information about what that actually means.

Some of these features may seem interesting, but Streamlabs doesn’t go into details about how the bot actually functions or what you can expect when you’re doing your live stream. What’s more, when you search for these features, the most common phrase after each of them is “not working.” That’s not a great sign.

Not only that, it says that the Streamlabs Cloudbot needs no files to be installed, but you are still prompted to download the complete Streamlabs software. They just can’t seem to get their story straight.

Some people are looking for ways to simplify and help manage their Twitch platform, not overcomplicate things. Streamlabs will not help you to stay organized in terms of Twitch streaming, nor does it facilitate easy communication with your followers and viewers.

Requirements for Streamlabs

As we get into our Streamlabs review, we’re going to discuss some of the requirements for installation so that you can identify whether or not you are able to use the service. There are a variety of nuances of this service and you have to make sure that everything is set up properly or it’s not going to work right.

For those that are not tech savvy, this is definitely a downside. Here are the requirements for using the services.

You’ll need to have Visual C++, ensure that all of your machine’s software and drivers (including video graphics card driver) are completely up to date.

The platform used to be available for Windows only, but it’s now available for both Mac OS and Windows.

You need to have a streaming resolution of 1080p if you want to have clear and smooth streams. The platform supports Twitch, YouTube and Mixer.

Can You Use Streamlabs on Phones?

In addition to using Streamlabs via a laptop or desktop, it does offer mobile app support for both Android and iOS smartphones. This does give it an element of versatility, but may be difficult to manage if you’re not comfortable using multiple devices.

Depending on what you need it for, it is a good option to at least have a mobile app available; whether or not the service is actually apt for mobile use is another question. Typically the functions you’d want to use Streamlabs for will be easier and more straightforward on a desktop or laptop.

How to Install Streamlabs

Because this is a live streaming software, you’ll need to download it and install it. You need to take some extra time to make sure that you’re using all of the features, and it can be a bit complex for the average user.

Below you can find the steps to successfully installing the software and what to expect.

You’ll be able to use both Windows and Mac; Linux isn’t supported. Below are the steps to install on a Windows device.

The first thing you need to do is download and run Microsoft Visual C++ 2017 redistributable, both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions. That’s also a good time to check to make sure your drivers and software is up to date, as we mentioned above.

You’ll also need to check your anti-virus software and make sure that Streamlabs is whitelisted so that it doesn’t block the platform. Additionally, open the firewall to ensure that the software connects to the internet and allows widget updates.

After this is done and you restart your device, you’ll be able to download the software. After you complete the installation and sign up, the Auto Optimize feature will be available. It will find the best settings for Streamlabs so that you don’t have to.

Streamlabs Pricing: Prime Option and Bot Success

Streamlabs reviews - cloudbot features

Streamlabs spent a lot of time loading features onto their website, but they don’t give you a demo on how they work. And hey, guess what, if you liked the features, you’ll quickly realize that they come at a price. While they do offer a free version, the advanced (and majority of the most attractive) features come at a cost.

Almost all of the features mentioned won’t work unless you have their prime membership option, which of course, isn’t free. The worst part? You have to sign up and log in to even access information about the prime option.

Streamlabs went to great lengths to mention and describe their prime features, but won’t even be transparent about how the service works and how you can sign up for it without giving them any information? Not cool.

Ultimately, their prime service is not cheap, and it will cost you roughly $150 per year to have access to these features. They also tried to make it sound like Amazon prime, as Twitch is an Amazon-owned platform, which has led to a lot of confusion for people who pay for Amazon prime already.

Cloudbot doesn’t help you to make your Twitch streams and communication lines more effective, so at the end of the day, it’s really not worth it. There seems to be a lot of downsides to their services, yet they try to paint the picture that they are something that is absolutely perfect and effective. User reviews and Google searches tell another story.

Streamlabs User Reviews

Not only is the Prime requirement a deterrent as well as the somewhat tedious installation process and learning curve, there are a ton of negative reviews floating around on the web as well. Most sites will claim that all is rainbows and butterflies when reviewing Streamlabs, but that’s far from the case.

As we mentioned above, it’s not uncommon that when you search a feature on Google related to functions of the software, it’s followed by “not working,” which means that many people are trying to figure out what the heck is going on with the service and why things aren’t working.

If you search for reviews online, you’ll see that their Trustpilot has a high rating of 4.5 and that the majority of the reviews are positive, 75% being 5 stars. That said, there are also 13% of reviews that are negative.

When you look more closely at the positive reviews, all of them are invited. That means that the service itself invited them to review and clearly they’re paid for or fortified. There isn’t a single positive review that isn’t invited. That’s a huge red flag.

When looking at the negative Trustpilot reviews, though, none of them are invited and they all have very passionately negative things to say about Streamlabs.

Streamlabs negative reviews

Some of these negative reviews use expletives to describe how terrible the functionality of Streamlabs is.

Others claim that the service stole their money; they tried to pay the monthly fee instead of the yearly fee but Streamlabs decided they didn’t want that and took all of the money at once.

This is completely dishonest and terrible business practice, with little support from the company itself. This is common in a variety of the reviews, citing that customer service is a joke as well.

They also don’t support multi-account use and each account needs to have their own subscription, even if it supports all channels including YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook. They are out to rip off their clients and don’t care about their needs.

Review Conclusion

If you’re looking for a way to gain more Twitch viewers and optimize your Twitch chat box performance, Streamlabs Cloudbot isn’t it. This bot seems to be much more focused on other things rather than actually helping to grow your Twitch viewership and following.

There are better options out there for Twitch growth that won’t cost you nearly as much as Streamlabs and their Cloudbot.
