No pressure or anything, but your first Instagram post is like your first impression on the app.

People are going to remember it, and people are going to shape their impression of your account around it. If you have only just created an Instagram account, then choosing the first post is important.

Perhaps you are brand new to Instagram, or maybe you are well-seasoned with the app, but you are choosing to wipe the slate clean, and start a new account. Or you could just be starting an Instagram account for your brand. Whatever the reason is, you will want to make a good first impression.

How to Choose the Perfect First Post on Instagram?

So, with this in mind, what does a good first Instagram post look like? If this is your personal account, then we suggest that you might want to start out with a selfie. This shows people who you are, and the best part is that you can introduce yourself through the caption.

Let people know your hobbies, interests, and what they can expect to see on your Instagram profile. You could also ask your audience a question, and get people talking about your account right from the get-go.

For a business Instagram account, we think that you should choose something that sums up what you’re all about. It could be a slogan or a product, or maybe you want to start out by including your audience and sharing a post from a customer. This is going to get you engaged with your audience immediately.

We know that choosing that all-important first Instagram post is really challenging, so we’re going to do everything today to help you with that. We are also going to check out some first Instagram posts from some really popular Instagram profiles, and see whether you can draw inspiration from them.

Beyonce’s First Instagram Post

Beyoncé started her first Instagram account back in November 2012. This is what her first Instagram post looked like.

She decided to really blow her first Instagram post out of the water. Her first Instagram post lined up with the 2012 American presidential election, and this is why she shared a photo of herself in a politically motivated T-shirt.

Her T-shirt said, ‘Texans for Obama’, which communicated to her followers where she stood when it came to the 2012 election. We personally think that this is a really good first Instagram post. It shows what she is passionate about, while giving her audience a little bit of an insight on what they can expect with her future posts.

Selena Gomez’s First Instagram Post

Selena Gomez is the Queen of Instagram and got her start back in 2013. However, this was way back before she was the most followed celebrity on the social media sharing app, and what’s interesting is that she posted a black and white photo first.

The video included her and her dancers posing, and then dancing. Yes, we think that this video is cute, but we don’t personally think that it’s a great choice. For a first Instagram post, it’s a little bit confusing for followers who would love to see more photos of their favorite pop star.

David Beckham’s First Post on Instagram

The world had to wait until 2015 for David Beckham to get on Instagram, and we are all so glad he did.

We’re pretty sure that everyone on Instagram needed the selfie of David Beckham in bed in their lives. Since he joined the platform, we’ve seen plenty more photos of him, and we don’t think that anyone is complaining. The best part is that a lot of the time he includes his adorable family in his posts as well.

Ariana Grande’s First Post on Instagram

Ariana Grande was one of the first celebrities to start an Instagram account, all the way back in 2011. She got her start with a really sweet photo, which involved one of the most important people in her life.

Not only can you see Ariana with a completely different hair color in her first Instagram post, but it also includes her grandpa. In the photo, she is kissing him on the cheek, and he is wearing her merch.

We think this is a completely adorable first Instagram photo choice from Ariana. It’s obvious that she adores her grandpa, and that he’s really important to her.

Justin Bieber’s First Instagram Post

Justin Bieber arguably might have the worst first Instagram post.

His first Instagram post was a blurry picture of traffic, with a filter that made it really hard to see what was actually going on. He also forgot to include a caption.

While it might look like a joke, this is really what he chose to start out with back in 2011. The picture is pretty bad, but the fact that he decided to share it without explaining anything is even more confusing.

This is definitely a bad first Instagram post, potentially one of the worst.

Kylie Jenner’s First Post on Instagram

Kylie Jenner has been famous for a while now, and like a lot of young celebrities these days, she got her start on Instagram back in 2011. You would think that the fact she is from a family that typically does pretty well on social media would mean that her first Instagram post landed really well. But it didn’t.

Kylie’s first Instagram post was a blurry image of a fire. We think that she could have done so much better, and we’re thankful that her Instagram profile has come a long way since then.

Kim Kardashian’s First Post on Instagram

Kim Kardashian’s Instagram debut is miles ahead of anyone else’s. She first started an Instagram profile in 2012, and we think that she did it perfectly.

The image was on brand, being a selfie, and she even talked about it being a first Instagram post in the caption.

Justin Timberlake’s First Instagram Post

Justin Timberlake’s first Instagram post is almost as bad as Justin Bieber’s, except that he put the effort in to include a caption. However, the fact that it is a black and white photo of a freeway still leaves us pretty confused.

In his caption he talks about how he was on his way to the Grammys. Not only is this boring, but it gives the impression that he’s bragging. This is why we are not over the moon about this post, but we are thankful that he at least decided to include a caption.

Chrissy Teigen’s First Instagram Post

Chrissy Teigen joined Instagram back in 2012, and her first Instagram post was of her famous husband.

Thankfully, she was smart enough to talk about it being her first Instagram post in the caption. Following Chrissy on Instagram means you get to see a lot of her husband, and while we think that a couple selfie would have been better, we still think that this is a relatively good picture.

Kendall Jenner’s Debut on Instagram

Kendall Jenner got her start on Instagram back in 2011, and to be honest her first Instagram post is just as bad as her sisters.

She posted a snap of a generic picture of Disneyland with a filter over the top. It doesn’t include any of her famous family members, just a random snap that she took inside the amusement park. Yes, it’s an interesting location, but the photo itself is pretty boring.

Final Thoughts

So, hopefully from the reviews that we have given celebrities for their first Instagram posts, you will be able to deduce what your first Instagram post should look like.

When you go to choose your first Instagram post, make sure that you put in some real time and effort into thinking about what it should be.

After all, you want to be able to look back and be proud of the first photo you uploaded to Instagram.
