In the Netherlands, a franchise of Domino’s is now offering Bitcoin as a way to get paid as an employee. Staff get the option of deciding how much of their pay check that is above the minimum wage, which legally needs to be paid in euros, can be paid out in Bitcoin.

The franchisee is the largest in Holland, with 16 Domino’s pizza stores. They will offer the wage option in partnership with BTC Direct. There are more than 1000 employees who can choose this option.

Jonathon Gurevich, a co-owner of the franchise, said, “We work with a lot of young employees. We hear them talking about Bitcoin and we want to offer the opportunity to own cryptocurrency.”

The news was released on Bitcoin Pizza Day, which honors the first time that Bitcoin was used to pay for something when Laszlo Hanyecz, a developer, used 10K Bitcoin to pay for two pizzas back in 2010.

That amount of Bitcoin is now worth more than $400 million.
