Discord has recently issued an “incident notice” to users who have been impacted, revealing a data breach that occurred as a result of a breach in the account of a third-party support agent.
As a result of the breach, the support ticket queue of the agent was compromised, potentially leading to the exposure of users’ email addresses, Discord support chat logs, and any attachments associated with those logs.
After detecting the incident, Discord swiftly took action by promptly disabling the breached support account.
In letters sent to affected users, Discord acknowledged the potential exposure of their email addresses, the contents of customer service messages, and any attachments exchanged between them and Discord.
According to a Reddit user, the company stated, “Due to the nature of the incident, it is possible that your email address, the contents of customer service messages, and any attachments sent between you and Discord may have been exposed to a third party.”
Additionally, Discord collaborated with its customer service partner to implement robust measures aimed at preventing similar incidents from occurring in the future.

As reported by BleepingComputer, Discord has assessed the risk to be minimal, but it is always prudent to exercise caution and stay alert.

However, they have reassured that only a small percentage of their user base has been impacted.
The breach specifically pertains to users who interacted with the support team during certain specified dates and does not affect all Discord users.
