Americold, a renowned company specializing in cold storage and logistics, has recently encountered severe IT difficulties following a security breach on Tuesday evening.

As a result of this breach, the company’s computer network has been compromised, causing disruptions to its operations and putting its sensitive data at risk.

According to a memo viewed by BleepingComputer and sent to customers earlier this week, the company has confirmed that it has contained the attack and is presently investigating the incident.

The attack reportedly affected operations as per reports from both customers and employees.

The memo further estimated that the company’s systems would remain down until at least next week.

The cold storage company stated that they are in the process of evaluating the intrusion.

Americold confirmed that they have contained the intrusion and have taken measures to shut down their network to prevent any potential risks to non-contained areas or customers.

Americold added that they are still discovering the extent of the impact and are working towards rebuilding the affected systems.

“At this moment, we are anticipating a scenario to be brought back up by mid-next week. As we continue to work to understand the level at which data will be recovered, we will be able adjust our anticipated timeline for restart and will provide updates accordingly.”

Americold has asked its customers to cancel all “inbound” deliveries beyond next week and to reschedule non-critical outbounds reaching expiration dates due to limited manual capabilities.

The company issued a memo to its customers stating, “In the meantime, it is requested that you cancel any inbounds out past next week.

Outbounds will continue to be very limited in manual capabilities, so we would like to request that any non-critical outbounds be pushed out and rescheduled with your site SR at a later date.

Critical outbounds should include product that have potential to reach an expiration date.

We sincerely appreciate your corporation as we continue to work through this issue and limit the impact to our customers across the network.

Although Americold has not released any official statement or provided details about the incident, it is suggested that a ransomware attack caused the issue based on Americold’s focus on rebuilding impacted systems and assessing recoverable data.

Americold has assured its customers of its commitment to minimizing the impact on its network and has expressed gratitude for their cooperation during this challenging period.
