Coinbase has brought on the former deputy director of SEC, otherwise known as the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to head the firm’s legal work with regards to the capital markets.

Christian Sabella joins the platform as associate general counsel of the capital markets division of the company. Coinbase has recently been on a hiring spree, and has brought on new hires from some of the world’s largest corporations, including Goldman Sachs.

Paul Grewal, chief legal officer of Coinbase, announced the decision on Twitter.

Sabella worked at SEC for more than 10 years before being brought on by Coinbase. He has also worked at Shearman & Sterling where he specialised in structured financing.
