Blockstream Purchases Adamant, as it Expands into Investment Products

Last Updated on May 25, 2021 by Jason

Blockstream, a biotech company, has purchased Adamant Capital, which is a hedge fund manager for Bitcoin that was developed by Tuur Demeester. Demeester got his start in crypto in 2012 when he recommended Bitcoin as an investment – back when it was valued at $5. He will stay as advisor.

Blockstream, based in Vancouver, said that the purchase sets a new precedent for the division, where bitcoin investments can be offered to clients.

Adam Back

Jesse Knutson will head the division. Adam Back founded Blockstream, who created Hashcash, a precursor to Bitcoin. Gregory Maxwell, developer of Bitcoin Core, and nine others were involved, too. Financial terms haven’t been shared.
